Growing up in the ‘60s with two older sisters meant we did a lot of baking! My sisters became experts at cakes with buttercream frosting, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate eclairs and cream puffs. My mom was an expert at lemon meringue pies and shortbread cookies. I picked up the baking bug along the way and developed my own repertoire of goodies.  I discovered that I not only loved baking and tasting, but loved the feeling of seeing others enjoy my creations even more. Time passed. We all grew up and moved away, but the love of baking and bringing joy to others through baking always stayed with me.  
 
Once I was out in the working world, I tried out recipes on my co-workers at the monthly potlucks. I donated treats to various fundraisers and volunteered to bring them to my kid’s school events. One treat that was particularly popular was my sister’s scones—she had a great recipe that was requested frequently. I tweaked it a bit (almost enough for her to let me say it’s mine!), and although requests for the “secret recipe” kept coming, I just couldn’t part with it. As a result, I created a scone mix that rivaled the freshly made treats. Barb the Baker Scone mix was born!
